There are many different ideas for fireplace mantels and the design you  settle on depends on size, budget, style and personal taste. It also helps to get some ideas for how it will be used and decorated, as they are focal points in any room as well as having a practical function. You want the fireplace to be able to do its job of heating the room but you also want something that is a decorative piece too that will add something to the room.

Ideas for Fireplace Mantels – Designs to consider

Here are some styles that you can choose for the fireplace mantel. Choose something that will fit with the room.

Bringing the Outdoors In

Flowers, branches, leaves if arranged well can make the fireplace mantel look elegant, natural and so on. Use tulips or roses in the summer, a garland of leaves in Autumn, pine cones. This also means you can also use the mantel easily for special times of the year such as Halloween or Christmas.

White is In

White is popular in houses that do not have young children with grubby fingers! It gives a room a simple, clean, elegant and classy feeling. There are a variety of items you can use, candles, flowers silk or fresh, ribbons, stones and so on.

Keep it Simple

Have a good painting above the mantel, a vase, a simple sculpture. You do not have to have a lot there or make it especially decorative. Simple works too. A glass bowl with colored stones in it, black rocks against a white mantel or a small houseplant.

Go Modern
